Documents sent back from Secretary of State over technicality

Grrrr….I received a call from our Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office.  They are rejecting five documents that an attorney notarized for me.  Here in Louisiana, when you pass the bar and become an attorney, you are automatically qualified to be a notary and your commission is for life.  You fill out the paperwork once you pass the bar and you receive your seal and a commission for life.  Anyway, the lady stated that attorneys are notaries, but they are not commissioned by the Secretary of State…huh?  Not sure.  She said that the notary who signs my documents has to be commissioned by the Secretary of State and that attorneys do not qualify.

So, let me get this straight.  Attorneys ARE notaries and their COMMISSIONS ARE for LIFE, but they are not COMMISSIONED by the Secretary of State?  That is confusing.  So, I have to find another notary and I have to re-generate five documents, which means paying for them again and dragging a notary behind me again.

Sigh…..if it is not one thing, its another!  The good news is that we have about sixty days to do this.  That is how long the USCIS is taking to process our petition to adopt an orphan.  So, no worries about running out of time.  It is just a pain in the you-know-what.

On a good note, it is FRIDAY!  Thank the Good Lord in heaven!  It says in the Bible to give thanks for all things and I am giving thanks today for the weekend to come!

Oh, wow! Sorry you are having this problem! My dad is a notary and he is commissioned for life. Have never heard that one at all! Hope you can find a notary that satisfies them this time!!!!
